30A – Final Reflection

Image
1 - Looking through my posts, I've learned plenty that will help me uniquely think outside of the box when brainstorming future venture concept ideas. I also realized that being an entrepreneur isn't as easy as it seems, especially being that there are so many factors that go into making a plan and finding a problem to solve.  Overall, writing about my concept has been fun and I look forward to potentially giving this a kickstart in the near future. 2- I am proud of myself for going through an entire venture concept plan on creating a business and look forward to potentially turning it into a reality. Also, reading about entrepreneurs and their rise to success inspires me to give my idea a crack. 3-  I definitely feel that I've moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset. Being that I have experience from previous entrepreneurship, this course gave me the boost I needed to confidently asses future problems and push my venture concept forward. 4- The best pie...

29A – Venture Concept No. 2

Opportunity: I was able to identify an audience in the city who have longer work schedules and can't afford to take the time to travel to fitness centers. There are also plenty of people who are dedicated to working out in a private setting instead of having to go into a crowded fitness center after a long day of work. Being in the nation's capital with a constant struggle of dealing with current events means many people don't want to take their time to find centers that properly fit their needs without having to worry about paying top dollar for spare equipment, pool, classes, and other unnecessary items they don't have time for/need in their daily lives. This is where my entrepreneurial idea comes into play to provide them with a mobile gym service that includes a specifically made system for each client, including a meal plan, and whatever equipment needed to fit their schedules and their daily regimen. Innovation:  Being that most fitness centers in the city ...

28A – Your Exit Strategy

Exit Strategy My venture is a mobile fitness service that provides meals and workout plans for any customer in need or short of time to pay expensive fitness centers. The most important thing to take into account is the amount of effort, investment, and customer return I get during the first 5 years of the business. If I don't see any progress being made, I will immediately sell it. If the business takes off and provides a very positive ROI, I will be sure to expand or even franchise the idea to different locations across the nation. No matter where the location or age group, there are always a certain amount of individuals who are focused on health and fitness, therefore, relocating, selling, or simply expanding shouldn't be an issue. However, being that my service is adjusted to fit customers who don't want to travel or pay for a fitness center, it would be best to take the next step and purchase a location with the money I gain from holding this business in the nex...

27A – Reading Reflection No. 3

Thinking Fast and Slow - Daniel Kahneman  1 - The general book theme is about essentially the 2 systems in our brains that we have a fast intuitive part of our brain that guides our decisions and a slower part that isn't necessarily engaged all the time. The book basically describes how these two interact and creates fallacies and other illusions that will help you think outside of the box 2 - the great thing about this book is that it's very interactive, giving the reader an opportunity to follow along with a set of questions that will help you understand the topic better. 3- The exercise would involve a simple set of questions that create scenarios in the entrepreneurial settings that will most likely create real-life experience choices for students taking this choice. Each student would have to answer in a discussion format and possibly create an example to share. 4 - The biggest surprise was the concept of understanding how the mind works under stress and difficult...

26A – Celebrating Failure

My biggest failure this semester is probably keeping up with the workload between school and a 9-hour work schedule. It's not easy waking up every morning, going straight into my assignments, then working until 6/7 pm then jumping back on my laptop to complete any remaining assignments for another 2 hours. During this time in quarantine, work, college, and home lines have been blurred, so taking the time to relax in between each has become very difficult. The point is, my failure led to a drop in my grades and some missing assignments in this class and others due to the excess workload. The good news is that after numerous weeks of adjustment, I was able to find a better schedule for myself where I am able to set specific deadlines for course assignments in addition to my workload on my job. Overall this has probably been the most difficult semester to date, especially taking a full-time schedule, but putting my mind to it and creating a disciplinary schedule has helped me keep...

What's Next?

Existing Market Step 1 : Next for my venture -  I will continue building on this idea and attempt to open a similar concept, but I am not quite sure about keeping this as a mobile concept. Short term, this seems like a great idea, but long-term, I would either have to build the business with more trainers or open up a center. Otherwise, I would also like to get involved in a separate idea of tackling misinformation in this day and age - so something relating to the political field and media is a secondary route I may want to take. Step 2: Being that there weren't any conducted interviews, the next step for my customers is providing a pricing breakdown for my services. For the most part, I've been discussing general terms of my services but only a minor break down between $75 - $100 per month. Also, a website with more information and details would be ideal for potential customers to research before filling out a form. Step 3:  Through social media or a website, customer...

23A – Your Venture’s Unfair Advantage

Venture Resources: Knowledge - Being that I am experienced in the fitness industry after working at a gym and having worked out from a young age -- these are experiences that others will not be able to relate to and gives me an advantage in the industry.  Experience - I've been in and out of the gym since I was 14, and my experience is something that some other services can't compete with.  Social capital - If I ever begin to struggle with my services, I can rely on advice from numerous friends, colleagues, and previous managers who have life experiences in the fitness industry. It's also a lot better than simply googling the answers.  Access - Several gym services don't give you access to everything unless they pay a certain amount. Being that this is a mobile gym service, many people have better access to equipment, knowledge, and plans at all times.  Availability - Being that this is a mobile gym service, there are no particular business hours ...

21A – Reading Reflection No. 2

The Art of Social Media - What was the general theme or argument of the book? Guy Kawasaki teams up with Peg Fitzpatrick to take us on a journey through best social media practices in blogging, tweeting, Facebooking, Tumbling, and more, or simply put, "the one essential guide you need to get the most bang for your time, effort, and money." The theory is that successfully using social media to your advantage for your business will help you succeed in the long run. Social media is a prominent factor in promoting and serving your business needs. How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? Being that this course emphasizes the importance of planning, creating pitches, and innovating your way to success through interviews, connections, and feedback, this book adds to the mix by explaining how to properly set up your business and use social media tools to your advantage. So this book is an additional factor that will contr...
