20A – Growing Your Social Capital

WHO I KNOW, NOT WHAT I KNOW DOMAIN EXPERT: Jose - Personal trainer in South Florida (YMCA). Jose is somebody who has been involved in the fitness industry for over 5 years. He has been personal training clients for most of his career and has plenty of experience managing routines. Fortunately, Jose was easier to find because of his connection with many of my friends back home who reside and have worked out in my town in South Florida. Our method of contact was through phone.  Being that Jose has experience training people outside of a gym setting, he gave me feedback that helped me gather ideas on the type of clients I should be pursuing in my concept of a mobile fitness center.  MARKET EXPERT: Davis from Crunch Fitness  - Manager on client services, sales, and personal training. He transitioned from personal trainer to sales expert in the fitness industry and understands what clients are looking for and need in a fitness regimen.  Davis was a manage...

19A – Idea Napkin No. 2

Second Shot at Idea Napkin No. 2 I am a UF student currently living in the nation's capital, Washington D.C. Being that I've gone through several sales jobs and political experiences, I've been able to pick up better communication and public speaking skills. Although I've been involved in political advocacy, I am leaning more toward someday being my own boss and running a fitness style-related service. If I were to start this sort of concept, I would see it as a separate entity apart from my career, but eventually would try to manage the service full-time. The service I would be offering to customers is a mobile gym service. This would help those who are constrained on time and or don't want to travel long distances to find the right fitness center to them. I would be bringing the center to their home or place of choice. This means equipment, personal training, and diet regimens compacted into one. Depending on the client, I would most likely just bring a set of...

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

CUSTOMER AVATAR Service: Mobile Fitness Center that brings equipment to your choice of location and includes diet and workout plans. Customer : Typical customer would have the following qualities: Between the age of 22 - 30  College graduate  Wears a suit/dress to work  Works in government/politics Wears their typical university shirt to workout Wears gloves  Loves bragging about their job  Has some experience working out Motivated to be healthy  What I have described is your average D.C. citizen trying to make a living. I tend to fit some of these qualities myself, such as the age, workout experience, and politics, but overall, it's hard to avoid people with these qualities living in most cities, so It's what my target has to be. Living in the suburbs would be a completely different set of qualities and customers.

15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Evaluating How Your Customers Evaluate Stuff Being that I live in Washington D.C. the chosen segments for my interview were people who worked in the political sphere with busy schedules. During the interview process and because they were on the younger side, their methods of finding information and choosing alternatives/shopping were almost identical. Two of them discussed that they couldn't choose a product or service without going through a robust search of testimonies, prices, and alternatives online. We are in the digital era, and making a choice through the endless amounts of sites could make things easier but also more confusing because of the mass amount of information and different opinions available at the same time. My interviewees' most important qualities when depicting product choice were quality and then price, in that order. All of them preferred to pay their products with a credit card and worry about their debt later. The post-purchase part of the intervi...
