19A – Idea Napkin No. 2

Second Shot at Idea Napkin No. 2

I am a UF student currently living in the nation's capital, Washington D.C. Being that I've gone through several sales jobs and political experiences, I've been able to pick up better communication and public speaking skills. Although I've been involved in political advocacy, I am leaning more toward someday being my own boss and running a fitness style-related service. If I were to start this sort of concept, I would see it as a separate entity apart from my career, but eventually would try to manage the service full-time.

The service I would be offering to customers is a mobile gym service. This would help those who are constrained on time and or don't want to travel long distances to find the right fitness center to them. I would be bringing the center to their home or place of choice. This means equipment, personal training, and diet regimens compacted into one. Depending on the client, I would most likely just bring a set of tools and weights in a container instead of dragging along larger machines that will take up time and space. Aside from people who are short on time, age group is irrelevant. This could be a full-on family workout or it could pertain to a senior citizen who wants that extra kick in their life.

Customers should care because this will help them better manage their time and do more than simply spending time driving in traffic or debating whether they should even go in the first place. This isn't an ordinary mobile center, but one that differentiates itself by including diet plans combined with fitness schedules and state of the art routines. Who wouldn't prefer working out in the comfort of their own home?

Evaluation: As previously mentioned in my first napkin concept, a big obstacle from these elements is managing my equipment regarding delivery to the customer. This means I either have to travel in a truck filled with everything in it or I don't take equipment with me. Also, being that I want to include dieting tips, I would need to get certified in the nutritionist realm in order to provide the best possible tips and plans. Lastly, because I am including so many benefits along with the service, how expensive will that cost clients? This is something that must be precise in order to keep business steady.

Feedback: Being that I only had one comment in my previous napkin idea, the equipment issue seems to be the biggest obstacle to overcome when traveling to client locations. This either means carrying the equipment myself or using the space of a truck to place the equipment inside. The first choice seems to be the smartest course of action to eliminate space and time. Depending on which client I have, I would take smaller dumbells and tools in a container that would be used during each workout.

  1. Joaquin,
The progress you're making from the feedback you got is outstanding, it will only help and make this business opportunity even better for you! I especially liked how you turned the feedback you got from the equipment obstacle and adjusted it. It shows that you're willing to take feedback and benefit from it. I believe you have a great business opportunity at hand and the more you can take constructive criticism and feedback, the better off you will be in the long run. Also, I liked how you took into consideration the cost for your clients, it shows you care and are willing to look past the profits for yourself to help them out. Great job!
