7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

You Have An Opportunity, Now What?

Lack of fitness centers and time constraints in the Washington DC area due to busy schedules. So the best opportunity would be creating a fitness service that travels directly to the customer.

The who: working people
The what: unable to travel to fitness centers or don't have time to workout
The why: Logistical challenges related due to travel and time constraint

Testing the who: The phrase 'working people' is generalized, so anybody who works in the city who also has limited time for travel is included.

Testing the what: Some individuals have better ways of travel with cars, carpool services, etc. but the majority have to take the metro or just don't have an opportunity near them so it consumes longer times for travel.

Testing the why: Long work hours and the lack of local fitness center opportunities create difficulties in life and work areas. The city also has a limited amount of space for these centers to exist.

The interview participants involved 5 different people from different work backgrounds and locations to keep the answers separate. Overall, the majority agreed with the opportunity for travel and bringing the fitness service to them in person instead of having to travel to a different location after work. One interviewee even mentioned the idea of building an entire gym within a moving truck and using it as a mobile fitness center. Some interviewees, however, weren't as excited about the idea - especially having to pay when they have better opportunities at an actual fitness center filled with top tier equipment. In short, Ideas were well received, but this opportunity should be left on the back burner.

  1. Hey Joaquin,
The opportunity you discussed was a good one involving working out in Washington DC. Having a way for a workout to go to them would increase the amount of people that workout and be successful. People are not likely to workout after work since they are tired and thinking about eating and then going to bed to rest and relax.
