My Entrepreneurship Story


My parents are a bit old-fashioned: they weren't studious people or looked forward to college education, so they took their own career route. As a kid, I witnessed my family struggle first hand, jumping from odd-end jobs to make ends meet. There was nothing worse than seeing my father come home after a long day of work to see the energy depleted from his face from all the stress that day. This ultimately led my father to drop everything one day and become an entrepreneur by opening up his own home inspection business. 

 18 years later, the company is going strong, and he's at the most successful point in his career. The best part about having your own entrepreneurial endeavor is not having to worry about a boss breathing down your neck. You create the rules, the schedule, the investments, and however much effort you want to put into it. Watching my father's success as an entrepreneur and breaking the mold, motivates me to do the same.

 And so, this course is something I looked forward to, as my goal in a few years is to eventually pursue the entrepreneurial route as well. I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but I mainly want to learn anything and everything possible about what it takes to be part of your own creation.10 years from now, I hope to be sitting down and remembering useful points from this class.

Evaluating How Your Customers Evaluate Stuff Being that I live in Washington D.C. the chosen segments for my interview were people who worked in the political sphere with busy schedules. During the interview process and because they were on the younger side, their methods of finding information and choosing alternatives/shopping were almost identical. Two of them discussed that they couldn't choose a product or service without going through a robust search of testimonies, prices, and alternatives online. We are in the digital era, and making a choice through the endless amounts of sites could make things easier but also more confusing because of the mass amount of information and different opinions available at the same time. My interviewees' most important qualities when depicting product choice were quality and then price, in that order. 12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Sketching out the Beginning of the Buyer Behavior Process Three people who might exist in my venture's market were interviewed throughout Washington D.C., and factors that contributed to their unmet needs were very similar. Due to the lack of fitness center availability in their schedules and location, they turn to either not working out or waiting for the weekend to be able to travel to their centers to sneak in a few workouts. The most important part of the interviews conducted is that the interviewees all looked for simpler solutions to their problems. The prominent factor that stuck out during all 3 interviews was the idea that "they can go to the gym if they want to" but their actions prove otherwise. 2 of the interviewees didn't realize they had the unmet need until halfway through the conversation.
